Sponge wand

Sponge wand

Children cut two kitchen sponges into long strips, removing the rough side. Then they fasten the strips in the middle with a pipe cleaner. They make a small cut at one end of a wide drinking straw and insert the pipe cleaner into it, hooking the end inside the slit. Another pipe cleaner is wrapped around the straw to create a decorative handle. To make the wand sparkle, children glue colorful sequins onto the sponge using craft glue. The finished wand is soft, shiny, and perfect for pretend magic play.
